  7. NiCad(tm),  is  a memory-resident program which can display a
  8. pop-up  "gas gauge" which  shows how  much time  is left on a
  9. battery charge.

  11. With  most  laptop computers it is difficult to know how much
  12. power  is left in the battery, especially if it has been used
  13. for many sessions of varying duration.  NiCad alleviates this
  14. problem  by using  a timer  algorithm to "predict" the charge
  15. left in the battery based on the last 10 discharge cycles.  A
  16. pop-up  "gas gauge" with  the hours  and minutes  left in the
  17. battery can be displayed from within most programs.

  19. Several   additional   features  distinguish  NiCad.  A  deep
  20. discharge function helps to prevent unwanted "memory effects"
  21. that  can  reduce  the  capacity  of  nickel-cadmium  (NiCad)
  22. batteries.   Multiple  alarms  can  be set to remind the user
  23. that the battery charge is getting low.  An on-screen display
  24. can  show the amount of battery charge or current time within
  25. most programs.  A battery charge history function shows a bar
  26. graph of the last 10 battery discharge cycles.

  29. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  31. NiCad  requires a  battery-powered portable  computer running
  32. MS-DOS or PC-DOS version 2.0 or higher.  The program requires
  33. 16K  of memory when resident.  A hard disk is recommended but
  34. not required.
